LONDON - JUNE 20: Chef Antony Worrall Thompson poses for a photograph during the Taste of London event at Regent's Park on June 20, 2007 in London, England. Taste of London, sponsored by British Airways, is an exciting restaurant, food and drink event in Regent?s Park. Antony Worrall Thompson has launched a line of marinades under his AWT Lifestyle Choices line perfect for vegetarians, vegan and coeliacs.

The sauce packets contain enough marinade for a meal serving 4-6 people and are available at Sainsbury stores throughout the UK.

The five flavors are Hot Mexican, Spicy Tikka, Sweet and Smokey Barbecue, Mediterranean and Herb, and Sweet Mint.

The following are descriptions from the Sweet and Smokey and Sweet Mint.

• AWT Sweet & Smoky Barbecue Marinade–”a finger-licking combination of traditional herbs and spices including garlic, ginger and cayenne pepper with the addition of smoky paprika for a real authentic American barbecue taste.”

• AWT Sweet Mint Marinade–”a simple mint marinade sweetened with red bell peppers and tomatoes creates a taste of the quintessentially British summer.”

“Whether you need to exclude gluten from your diet or you simply prefer to opt for a ‘free from’ day or two as part of a commitment to enjoying a healthy lifestyle, I hope everyone will find these delicious marinades a mouth-watering delight,” said Thompson.

Just because you’re firing up the grill for Tofurky brats or other veggie options, doesn’t mean your sauce is legit. Check for unexpected ingredients like natural flavors which don’t have to specify if they’re from a meat source or beef stock or seasoning. Better yet, choose a sauce like those from the AWT line that are already advertised as veggie friendly.
