Monkee Genes Organic Babycord Skinny
One our latest finds is indie brand Monkee Genes. They are featured in the next issue of Lifescape on the Green Glam pages but we loved them so much we wanted to give you a little bit more info. Monkee Genes are based in the UK and all the jeans are made here with a guarantee that all staff are paid a living wage. An extremely impressive claim, especially given the very reasonable price point of most of their jeans at £50. Not only this but in July 2008 Monkee Genes was awarded the Soil Association organic standard and the Global Organic Textile Standard / “G.O.T.S”.
Monkee do a variety of styles: Supa Skinny, skinny, flares and babycord (pictured above). The supa skinny are for the youthful, lithe hipped among you, whilst skinny are designed with a higher cut waist for women concerned about the unflattering muffin top. The range is also designed to be unisex – this really does bring a whole new meaning to the term ‘boyfriend jeans’! Not only do they make fantastic jeans but they also do a range of hats and bags. I think the Lily Bag is a great size and it comes in various different colours, giving you lots of great choice.
