Leona Lewis, a long-term vegetarian has banned all traces of meat on her upcoming tour
The ‘Happy’ singer is a strong Animal rights campaigner – just recently she pressured organisers of the BRIT Award to pull foie gras off the menu and has now banned meat from being served on her upcoming tour because she is so against the butchering of animals
She said: “The meat industry is polluting the environment. I’ve banned meat from all photo shoots to the tour itself simply because I don’t support the meat industry.”
Leona has got her music boss Simon Cowell involved in her plight to stop people eating meat, proving he can actually be quite agreeable. The 24-year-old spoke to Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney last year about Simon joining his new Meat Free Mondays campaign, which aims to get people to give up meat one day a week

She said “Anything I ask Simon to get involved in regarding my charity and environmental concerns he always does. He’s cool like that.”
Simon, who allegedly got engaged to make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy recently, joins other committed vegetarian stars Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, Kevin Spacey and Woody Harrelson in supporting Paul’s cause
Strict vegetarian Leona is also dismayed by the popularity of fur and hates it when young singers wear clothes made from animal pelts. She thinks it is disgusting the way the fashion and music worlds still embrace clothing made from animal pelts and the apparent resurgence in the popularity of fur.
Leona – who doesn’t wear suede, leather or other animal products – said: “I think animals are treated very poorly. When I see people wearing fur it makes me so sick. Especially when I see young singers doing it – that sickens me. When I rocked up to my first photo shoot they had feathers and fur there and everything In despise. I had to make it so clear that I just do not go there.”
