Sea Shepherd Acknowledges the Guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama

“During his trip to Japan for 11 days, His Holiness the Dalia Lama declared that he will give his full support to Sea Shepherd Conservation Society’

Captain Watson responds here to the comments made by the Dalia Lama at the end of his 11 day tour of Japan. The Dalai Lama said he supported Sea Shepherd’s goal of preventing whalers from harming whales but added that “their (activities) should be non-violent”.

“His Holiness the Dalai Lama said at a media conference in Japan that he continues to support the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. He did rebuke us and said to his Japanese hosts that our activities should be non-violent. He issued this criticism in response to accusations by some in Japan who have accused Sea Shepherd of violence during our interventions against the annual bloody slaughter of whales in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary.” Said Captain Watson.

Captain Watson continued “The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society agrees with His Holiness on the imperative of taking a non-violent approach, but also believes that the Japanese government has misinformed him of the activities of the Society.

We are in agreement with the Dalai Lama on this and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society has never caused an injury to any individual. Reports that we have caused injuries have been fabricated for public relations purposes. We take every precaution to not cause injury, although we do destroy property that is used to take the life of sentient beings and for this we make no apologies. This year the Society has directly saved the lives of 528 whales and over 800 endangered Bluefin tuna. We are in the business of saving lives and not inflicting harm”

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society respects the Dalai Lama and his guidance is of great value to the Society.

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society will continue to intervene against the illegal
slaughter of these gentle Buddha’s of the sea and we will continue to do it exercising the utmost caution to not cause of harm to any person BUT rather to be the cause of saving the lives of hundreds of sentient beings from the mercilessly ruthless harpoons of the Japanese whaling fleet.

The Last Supper National Mall Exhibit Featuring Veg Stars For Jesus

There was the satire version of The Last Supper involving vegan Judas

Now PETA is promoting another veggie version of the meal featuring Jesus and the disciples, this time putting Paul McCartney and Pamela Anderson at the table, an exhibit which was on display at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

“The Diner” was created inside a 28 foot 1955 Airstream trailor by a University of Texas at Dallas professor. One side of the trailor features The Last Supper scene, while visitors can take a look on another to view pictures of factory farms.

“Some biblical scholars contend that because Jesus was an Essene—a member of a Jewish sect that forbade animal sacrifice and meat-eating—he was likely vegetarian. Passersby—including families visiting the Smithsonian Institution will find lots of food for thought at the exhibit.”

Woody Harrelson wants veggie choices in schools

Vegan actor Woody Harrelson is urging U.S. government officials to support a bill enforcing healthy eating in schools across America.

The “Cheers” star swears by his hardcore vegetarian diet and is known for providing his movie co-stars with alternatives to meat on set.

Now Harrelson and his wife Laura are appealing to Congress to bring similar practices into the lunchroom by backing the Healthy School Meals Act of 2010, which seeks to add vegetarian food and non-dairy beverages to cafeterias.

A letter from the couple to Congress reads, “As parents, we ask you to support HR 4870, the Healthy School Meals Act of 2010. We know from watching our own children grow up that eating habits children develop early on stick with them for life. All too often, young people are offered processed meats and cheese and other greasy, high-fat, high-cholesterol foods.

“The Healthy School Meals Act will help children develop better eating habits, provide healthful plant-based options that naturally contain no cholesterol, are low in saturated fat and high in fibre, enabling schools to reach high nutrition standards easily. The legislation gives schools the incentive and ability to address the health problems that are harming our children and overburdening our health systems.”

Scarlett Johansson also pledged her support for the bill in a letter to a California congressman in March.

Rock Star Brian May calls fox-hunting Tory

Brian May has described a senior Tory councillor as a ‘pathetic, arrogant, snivelling little dweeb’ in an extraordinary clash over fox hunting.

The Queen guitarist threatened to have David Parsons’ ‘guts for garters’, after the leader of Leicestershire County Council condemned the ‘cosseted London rock star’ for launching an anti-hunting campaign.

Last night, May’s attack was derided as ‘a sudden display of histrionics’.

May, 62, has founded the ‘Save Me’ Poster Campaign to stop the ban on fox hunting being overturned if a Tory Government is elected.

He has urged voters to find out how their candidates stand if MPs have a free vote on the matter after the General Election, as David Cameron has proposed.

Mr Parsons, a Tory leading light, attacked May – who lives in the countryside in Surrey – in a letter to a newspaper…

In an impassioned defence of the Quorn Hunt, which has operated in Leicestershire for more than 300 years, Mr Parsons said: ‘I fear people in rural communities are not going to take lectures from a cosseted London rock star.’

As soon as May heard about the comments in the Leicester Mercury, he posted an abusive tirade on his website alongside a picture of the councillor.

He labelled Mr Parsons a ‘disgrace’ and threatened to have his ‘guts for garters’ if the pair came within ‘sniffing distance’.

‘How dare you presume to judge me, and insult me? You don’t know anything about me, little man,’ May said.

May said he had been deluged with letters of support from people in rural areas saying the hunt was a ‘menace’.

Afterwards, May said he was ‘normally Mr Nice Guy’ but would not tolerate personal attacks.

He added: ‘I’ve been around a long time and I can usually ignore abuse such as this but David Parsons crossed the line.

‘I live in the countryside, I grew up with very little money. I don’t need someone to lecture me about the realities of life.’

He denied his criticisms were politically motivated, adding: ‘I’ve voted Conservative many times, and I’m a floating voter at this election.’

Last night a source at Leicestershire County Council said: ‘We are surprised at the sudden display of histrionics from Brian.

‘We thought it was high time that someone defended the tradition of the countryside and the rural economy.’

May grew up in Feltham, West London. He lives with his wife, former EastEnders actress Anita Dobson, 62.

He received a CBE for services to the music industry in 2005.

Mr Parsons, 59, also has a CBE. Since he became leader of Leicestershire council in 2003, it has been credited with achieving coveted four-star status under a government assessment.
